2016 Pinot Noir - Oppenlander Vineyard
Lush dark red fruit, with a minerality that harkens the Mendocino coast sea breeze
Oppenlander vineyard about eight and a half miles from the Pacific Ocean as the crow flies at an elevation of 250 feet.
The 2016 Oppenlander shows beautiful deep ruby color in the glass, and the dark brooding aromas of this wine are true to the identity of Oppenlander year after year. The nose reveals blackberry, herbs de Provence and cedar.
Aged 16 months in 33% new French oak, hints of clove, anise and a hint of dried coconut layer the black cherry core on the palate. Generous in weight, the palate remains structured with racy acidity and textured tannins that can stand up to heartier fare.

Waits-Mast Family Cellars produces small lots of single-vineyard pinot noir from small, independent growers in Anderson Valley, Mendocino County and Mendocino Ridge.
And by small lot, we mean small – 50 or 100 case lots. That means each lot receives close attention and care as we work to strike a balance of flavor, aroma and texture and faithfully represent the characteristics of each vineyard site.
From these different regions, we source fruit from premium vineyards, some from familiar names and others that are a bit under the radar. It is that combination of strong grower relationships and constant discovery that gets us excited about winemaking and about sharing these wines with you.
