2017 Holden-Mapley Vineyard Father and Son Bottle

2017 Holden-Mapley Vineyard Father and Son

Terragena
Humboldt County, CA

A field blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc in roughly equal proportions. The parent-child relationship of these grape varietals inspired us to name this wine “Father and Son,” and the name is also a tribute to our families who continue to support us throughout our adventures. This wine features aromas of black cherry, cocoa, cloves, and leather combined with hints of vanilla and balsa wood. Youthful tannins upon release will mature into a luscious full-bodied wine with bright racing acidity and a luxurious mouthfeel. All grapes for this wine sourced from the family-owned Holden-Mapley Vineyard in Alexander Valley AVA along the Chalk Hill Road. Small hand-made production with 420 bottles produced.

Our Commitment
We believe in sustainability, here's how we live it:

Off Grid Winery
Terragena Vineyard was built by Christopher Buchanan in 2008 from raw land. The entire estate is run with solar power, utilizes an off grid domestic water system from a year round spring, and there's a rain water collection pod that irrigates the estate vines.

Sustainable Farming
Terragena partners with multiple small family owned vineyards who are eco-conscious and utilize sustainable methods of farming. We truly believe this dedicated care and attention is not only the right thing to do, but also provides the highest quality fruit. Our estate vineyard is hard farmed sustainably while working with the land, rather than against it.

Wines Made to Age
Chris dedicated a third of his life to learning both the cultivation of grapes and the wine making process. These experiences developed unique insights to create complex wines that age gracefully.
