100% chardonnay hand-harvested at Spanish Springs in San Luis Obispo County. This Sustainability In Practice certified vineyard is nestled in the slopes of Price Canyon on the southern edge of the Edna Valley. Separated by a small mountain range it is the closest vineyard to the Pacific in California.
Deep yellow color. Nose bursts with green melon, lemon curd, guava, sea salt, ocean breeze, white tea and honeysuckle. Crisp yet vibrant, lovely texture on a medium/full-bodied frame, but zesty and balanced. Lemon, green apple, melon, tangerine, topped in sea salt, hints of toasted bread, vanilla and ginger.

Oceano Wines is a joint venture between Rachel Martin and husband Kurt Deutsch (a multi Grammy award winning music, film and theater producer) to make unique coastal wines which display elegance, balance, freshness and depth. Oceano is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise (WBENC) and a corporate member of Women of the Vines & Spirits. Rachel had been growing grapes and producing wine for over 15 years at her family’s winery and vineyard, Boxwood Estate Winery, in Middleburg, Virginia. During her tenure at Boxwood she crafted the Middleburg Virginia American Viticultural Area, making it the seventh, and most recent, AVA in Virginia. When starting Oceano, they decided to make wine from a very specific place, Spanish Springs Vineyard, on the extreme coast of San Luis Obispo, California. The 2017 Oceano Chardonnay is a Platinum Award Winner, “Wine of the Year.” Martin is a member of Les Dames d’Escoffier International New York and Washington Chapters and was the first woman to be inducted into the District of Columbia chapter of the International Wine and Food Society.
Starting with the 2019 vintage, its premium Chardonnay and Pinot Noir have earned vegan certification through BevVeg, a leading vegan certifier that ensures compliance from every stage of beverage production. All vintages are SIP Certified (Sustainability in Practice).
