2016 White Aero Port

A delightful palate of lychee, kumquat and apricot skin delivers a fresh take on this elegant sipper

Varietal composition: 65% Viognier, 35% Muscat Blanc

Vineyard Notes
We use two vineyards for the grape source of our white Aero Port wine. The Viognier is sourced from Landa Vineyard at the base of the Mayacamas in Sonoma Valley where warm afternoons lead to cool evening—ideal conditions for this Rhône varietal. The Muscat is grown on our estate—located in the overlapping AVAs of Sonoma Valley and Carneros. Situated at the base of the gentle sloping foothills which separate Sonoma and Petaluma, the estate benefits from the breezes carried in via the Petaluma Wind Gap. The vineyard is bathed in cooling fog in the summertime adding beautiful acidity and brightness to the wine. Anabatic winds force the vines to struggle, contributing to rich fruit characteristics in the grapes.

Tasting Notes
Beautiful aromatics jump out of the glass — white lilies, gardenia, mandarin orange and spiced pear. A delightfully lifted palate of lychee, kumquat and apricot skin delivers a fresh take on this elegant sipper.

Anaba Wines was founded in 2006 by proprietor John Sweazey when a decades long dream came to fruition. Early inspiration and trips to France in the 1970s helped shape the vision, varietals and vibe for the vineyards and tasting room.

Anaba’s name originates from cool, upward-flowing anabatic winds that soar and swirl through its sustainably-farmed Carneros Estate vineyards. Gifts of nature, these unique air currents make the vineyard more temperate, slow down the ripening process, and allow the grapes to develop more robust flavors and distinctive varietal characteristics.

Anaba Wines became the first winery in Northern California to utilize wind power when it installed a 45-foot wind turbine to harness the anabatic winds. This wind turbine generates electricity for Anaba’s tasting room, wine storage, office operations and irrigation pumps for the two estate vineyards.

The Anaba tasting room is a charming, recently-renovated 100-year-old farmhouse that provides an intimate and unpretentious tasting experience in which to enjoy Anaba’s award-winning wines. Anaba’s limited edition, superior quality blends and single varietal wines include Pinot Noirs, Chardonnays, Rhone-style blends and an excellent selection of dessert wines. Enjoy a simple picnic or a leisurely tasting on the spacious and peaceful patio overlooking Anaba’s fruitful grounds.
